Mahindra & Mahindra has planned a range of new models for the Indian market, which are slated to arrive in the next 2-3 years. As of now, the carmaker is gearing up to launch the all-new Mahindra Scorpio-N on 27th June 2022. The SUV will be followed by the Mahindra XUV300 electric SUV that will hit roads in the first quarter of 2023 (i.e. January – March).

Speaking to a media publication Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director, M&M has revealed that the electric version of the XUV300 will be bigger than its petrol and diesel counterparts. It will measure 4.2 metre in length. Interestingly, the Mahindra XUV300 electric will be the brand’s first model to underpin the MESMA (Mahindra Electric Scalable and Modular Architecture). While its official details are yet to be revealed, the Mahindra e-XUV300 is reported come with two variants – Standard and Long-Range.

Mahindra XUV300 Electric Launch
The Standard version will deliver a range of 200km and its long-range variant will offer 375km. Mahindra’s in-house 350V powertrain supports electric motors ranging from 60kWh to 280kWh. It’s also compatible to batteries with capacity of up to 80kWh and dual motor setups. Speculations suggest that the company might introduce performance-oriented version of the Mahindra XUV300 electric at a later stage.

The home-grown automaker is planning to expand its production capacity for the financial year 2022-23 and 2023-24. The project will have an investment of around Rs 1,900 crore. Jejurikar has revealed that the availability of the ECU (electronic control unit) has improved significantly as the company diversified its supply sources. Therefore, the waiting period of the exiting Mahindra SUVs is likely to be reduced with the increased production capacity. The semi-conductor shortage, however, will be there for this year.
