About Tata Altroz EV

Tata showcased the all-electric variant of the Altroz premium hatchback at the Auto Expo 2020. The Altroz EV will be the second all-new EV in the company’s lineup following the Nexon EV. Built on a modular ‘ALFA’ platform, the Altroz EV has better integrated electric power and drivetrain as compared to many other cars in the market offering both ICE and EV variants. It is expected to be launched sometime in 2021.

The Altroz EV will get the same Blue Teal paint option as the Nexon EV along with electric blue accents and a redesigned air-dam (with smaller inlets for better aerodynamics). There are no other visual differentiators between the Altroz EV and the other internal combustion engine-powered variants.

The electric blue theme continues on the inside, with a blue trim around the floating touchscreen. The lower centre console is not connected to the dash as the lack of a gear lever frees up space here. A floating mobile holder on the dashboard and a floating gear-selector console ahead of the centre armrest give the Altroz EV quite a unique look.

The Altroz EV uses the same 30.2kWh lithium-ion battery and 95kw electric motor as the Nexon EV. Range and performance should be better than the SUV because of lower weight and better integration of the systems. The Nexon EV has an ARAI-certified range of 312km on a single charge, a fast charger can charge the battery from 0-80 per cent in under 60 minutes.
