BMW X1 is a 5 seater SUV available in a price range of ₹ 49.92 – 54.46 Lakh. It is available in 3 variants, 1995 to 1998 cc engine options and 2 transmission options : Automatic (DCT) and Automatic (TC). Other key specifications of the X1 include a Ground Clearance of 183 mm, Kerb Weight of 1560 kg and Bootspace of 505 litres. The X1 is available in 6 colours. The mileage of X1 ranges from 14.8 kmpl to 19.6 kmpl.

The BMW X1 is available in four trim levels, namely the X1 sDrive20i SportX, sDrive20i xLine, sDrive20d xLine and sDrive20i Tech Edition. 

Market launch

The second generation facelift of the X1 (codenamed F48) was launched in India on 05, March 2020.

Engine and Transmission

The BMW X1 is powered by a petrol and diesel engine. Firstly, a 1,998cc in-line four-cylinder turbocharged petrol motor makes 189bhp and 280Nm of torque. Secondly, there is a 1,995cc in-line four-cylinder turbocharged diesel that can produce 188bhp and 400Nm of torque. The petrol engine is mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission while the diesel is paired with an eight-speed unit.

Exterior

The X1 bears BMW’s signature design philosophy that also applies to every other X series SUV. It features the typical kidney grille embellished with a glossy chrome finish. It also gets all-LED headlamps, fog lamps and taillights. Additionally, BMW offers 17-inch alloy wheels in three variants while the Tech Edition gets a set of 18-inch ones. 

Interior

On the inside, the X1 gets Sensatec synthetic leather upholstery for the seats that come in either Oyster/Black or all-Black theme. Moreover, there is an analogue instrument cluster with a TFT multimedia display. Depending on the variant, the X1 comes with distinctive infotainment touchscreen units varying between 6.5-inch, 8.8-inch and 10.25-inch. 

Features

The X1 gets anti-dazzle side-view mirrors, a seven-speaker HiFi sound system, heads-up display, dual-zone temperature control, wireless charger, six airbags, attentiveness attention, TPMS, traction control, dynamic stability control, cornering brake control, ISOFIX child seat anchors and six dimmable colours of ambient lighting.

Recent developments

A new sDrive20i Tech Edition variant with additional features was launched in India on 15 July 2021. Meanwhile, BMW is working on a third-generation X1 which is likely to be revealed globally in 2022.

Rivals

The BMW X1 takes on the Audi Q2, Mercedes-Benz GLA and Volvo XC40 in India.
