BMW G 310 RR vs TVS Apache RR 310: What’s Different

To enter the sub-400cc supersport segment, BMW launched the G 310 RR in India last week. While it’s a doppelganger of the TVS Apache RR 310, there are a handful of differences too. Let’s take a look at all of them.

Livery

Visually, the major distinction between the Bavarian and Indian offerings is the livery. The G 310 RR gets a Black paint scheme and is also available in BMW’s flagship livery. Meanwhile, the TVS Apache RR 310 is available in Titanium Black, Racing Red and also the Red with White livery. The latter is exclusive to the BTO program.

Features

BMW G310 RR TFT / Instrument Cluster
Even though the BMW G 310 RR gets the same instrument cluster as the Apache RR 310, the UI for the two is different. Not to mention, TVS has equipped the Apache RR 310 with its SmartXonnect software. It lets you pair your smartphone to the bike’s console and get access to various data as well as call/SMS notifications.

Suspension and Ergonomics

Even though BMW has charged a premium of about Rs 25,000 on the G 310 RR compared to the Apache RR 310’s price, it doesn’t get an adjustable suspension. The G 310 RR also misses out on adjustable footpegs and adjustable clip-on handlebars.

Brakes and Tyres

Instead of the petal disc brakes that we see on the TVS Apache RR 310, the BMW G 310 RR gets conventional round units. In theory, petal discs tend to heat up less than circular ones and thereby offer better braking performance. Moreover, the Hosur-based bikemaker offers Michelin Road 5 tyres while the German counterpart gets Michelin Pilot Street tyres.

Pricing

At a starting price of Rs 2.59 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) the TVS Apache RR 310 costs Rs 25,000 less than the BMW G 310 RR standard model. Not to mention, even with the BTO kit(s), the Apache RR 310 costs less than the BMW G 310 RR.
