BMW has launched the G 310 RR in India with prices starting at Rs 2.85 lakh (ex-showroom). Now before this, we have known that the motorcycle is based on the TVS Apache RR 310 along with a few cosmetic changes and new badging. So here’s a brief on what the motorcycle is all about.

In terms of design, the styling of the motorcycle is directly borrowed from its TVS counterpart, which means you get full-LED lighting with projector headlamps and a distinguishing taillight as well. To set it apart from the RR 310, the G 310 RR will come with bold BMW graphics on the tank and different paint options. On offer will be the iconic white, blue and red combo along with a Triple Black option.

At its heart, the motorcycle is powered by the same engine as the Apache RR 310. This is a 313cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor that delivers 34bhp and 27.3Nm of torque via a 6-speed transmission. The motorcycle gets ride-by-wire throttle which means riding modes on offer as well. Like the Apache, the G 310 RR also gets four riding modes including Track, Sport, Urban and Rain.

Under the skin, the G 310 RR is built around the same steel-trellis frame, wheels and suspension as the Apache RR 310. The tyres however have seen a bit of downgrade as the G 310 RR gets a pair of Michelin Street Pilot tyres as against the better Road 5s on the Apache RR 310. In terms of braking the bike will ditch the petal disc that we saw in the RR 310. It should be noted that in terms of suspension, the company is only offering pre-load adjustability at the rear as the sole option.

Another difference lies in the TFT instrument cluster which now comes with new graphics in the G 310 RR. However, it’s quite surprising that the BMW doesn’t feature Bluetooth connectivity at this price point. In the domestic market, the BMW G 310 RR takes on the likes of the new KTM RC 390 and the Kawasaki Ninja 300 among others.
