Benda BD500 V-four cruiser launched in China
Benda, a China-based two-wheeler maker, has launched the new BD500 cruiser in its home country. The motorcycle boasts an appealing design with a unique engine layout.
The BD500 looks pretty beefy and imposing for a middle-weight cruiser. It seems to have taken inspiration from American cruisers, those from Indian Motorcycles to be specific. With a low-slung stance and a long profile, it gets chunky USD forks, fat tyres, a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, and distinctive flat exhausts. Moreover, the blacked-out theme lends it a factory-custom look. And typical of a cruiser, it offers a laid-back riding position with a pulled-back handlebar, forward-set footpegs, and a spacious seat.

Propelling the Benda BD500 is a 496cc, liquid-cooled, four-cylinder motor arranged in V format. It boasts impressive performance numbers; 55.5bhp at 10,000rpm and 45Nm of torque at 8,000rpm. The kerb weight of the bike stands at 241kg which means it’s fairly heavy. Riding on 17-inch wheels, the BD500 is suspended by upside-down forks and dual springs while braking is handled by a single disc with Bosch dual-channel ABS.
Benda is unlikely to come to India anytime soon which means we won’t be seeing the BD500 here. However, those looking for a middle-weight cruiser can consider the Kawasaki Vulcan S and Benelli 502C.
