Hyundai added a new all-electric hatchback in its pipeline. The car will be its entry-level EV in European markets initially and will take on the likes of the popular Volkswagen ID.3 electric hatchback which has gained an impressive foothold in the segment. 

The car in question could possibly be a successor to the Hyundai i10 (sold as the Grand i10 Nios in India) and will be a part of the 11 electric offerings that the company is planning to debut in Europe by 2030. The rival list is, however, expected to increase with similar projects that have been in the works by the Volkswagen Group in Europe under its VW, Skoda and Cupra brands. 

The production-ready iteration of the car is still a while off and Hyundai stated that the idea of small electric cars benefits the organization amidst stringent emission norms across Europe and a few other parts of the world. 

While there is no confirmation whether the ID.3 rival will make it to India, Hyundai has already talked of its plans to introduce the Ioniq 5 in our country. The car will go on sale sometime next year and will be a part of the brand’s plan to launch six electric vehicles by 2028. However, we are looking forward to seeing the brand’s made-in-India mass-market EV that will be converted from an existing ICE platform, slated for a launch at the end of 2024.
