EICMA 2022: Royal Enfield brings the Super Meteor 650 to Italy

  • After a whole lot of spyshots and speculations, we finally got to see the new Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 in flesh at EICMA 2022. The latest cruiser from Royal Enfield expands b0th, its parallel twin family and Meteor family of motorcycles. And as evident from the previous statement, it is powered by the parallel twin that propels the 650 Continental and Interceptor motorcycles.

In terms of design, the Super Meteor 650 follows the traditional cruiser philosophy. With a 19″ front wheel with a 16″ hoop at the rear, a slope that goes from the front to the back, and a low seat; the new Meteor 650 is a cruiser through and through. The motorcycle is built upon a steel tubular frame that is visible throughout.

In terms of specs, no major changes have been made to the 650 parallel twin. The bore, the stroke, the compression ratio, the power, the torque; everything remains identical throughout the three parallel twins that are a part of the Royal Enfield stable now. The chassis however is all-new and was developed by Harris Performance. The goal was to create a motorcycle with a low centre of gravity and manoeuvrability that allows riders of all kinds of skill levels to enjoy the motorcycle.

We expect the motorcycle to hit the roads by early next year and only then we’ll get to see how Royal Enfield’s new parallel twin handles cruiser duties and how the new chassis fares.
