Okinawa is one of the well-established electric two-wheeler brands in India with a decently-sized product portfolio and vast dealership network. At the Auto Expo 2020, the company showcased a unique concept in the form of an electric maxi-scooter named the ‘Cruiser’. In India, the maxi-scooter genre is still on a nascent stage, even in the petrol-powered category, and one with an electric motor is profoundly niche.
While unveiling the concept, Okinawa had revealed that the production model of the Cruiser will be launched in India in the third quarter of FY2020-21. However, we already know the technical details of the electric scooter. Powering the Cruiser is a 4kWh lithium-ion battery which propels a 3kW motor. It is capable of achieving a top speed of 100kmph while the full battery range stands at 120kms, as claimed by the company. It rides on large 14-inch wheels with telescopic forks, dual shock absorbers and disc brakes at both ends
