An all-electric Citroen C3 is set to debut early next year, according to Stellantis’ global CEO, Carlos Tavares. Although the exact launch date has not been revealed, it is most likely to happen in January, following the 2023 Auto Expo. The French manufacturer was quick to highlight that no other mass automaker has developed and introduced an EV version of an ICE vehicle in such a short duration.

Regarding the Citroen e-C3, Mr Tavares remarked that the upcoming electric hatchback is equipped with a 30.2kWh battery pack, which is decently sized. As of now, it is believed that the battery pack is made up of LFP cells, sourced from a Chinese company, called Svolt. He further claimed that a 3.3kW onboard AC charger will be included in the e-C3 EV. Mr Taveres was also keen on pointing out that the EV will be compatible with the ‘CCS2’ type fast charger.

The new Citroen e-C3 electric hatchback will have an 84.5bhp electric motor, which produces a maximum torque of 143Nm. Moreover, the drive controller will replace the standard gear lever in the car’s cabin, which will otherwise be nearly identical to the C3 with a petrol engine.

Due to the anticipated battery pack capacity being similar to that of the Nexon EV, the e-C3 will likely boast a long driving range on a single charge. The upcoming Citroen e-C3 may have aggressive pricing, ranging between ₹10 and 12 lakh. The EV will also be sold in emerging overseas markets. Once launched, it will rival the likes of the Tata Tiago EV.
