Facelifted MG Hector likely to be unveiled in December 2022
Hector, the best-selling SUV from MG Motor India, is set to get a mid-life update as indicated by a couple of official teaser images and a leaked RTO document. Interestingly, several new features, including ADAS, and a somewhat enhanced design are anticipated in the facelifted model. The engine configuration, however, will remain unchanged. Now, according to recent speculations, the new version is likely to make its premiere on December 20.
The MG’s upcoming midsize SUV’s front look has already been previewed. The front end of the new Hector will be completely revamped, with fresh headlights, a reworked bumper, and a brand-new chrome mesh grille.

The 2022 Hector will feature a distinctly new cabin layout and potentially an impressive 14-inch touchscreen display, according to the teaser images. A 7-inch digital driver’s display, multi-colour ambient lighting, and other additional features will also be offered with the car. Moreover, a complete set of radar-based ADAS features, such as automated emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep and departure assistance, and blind-spot recognition may be available with the SUV.
It is also expected that the present model’s features list – which comprises accessories like a panoramic sunroof, a powered tailgate, ventilated front seats, wireless phone charging, and heated outer rear-view mirrors – will be carried over to the 2022 iteration.
New MG Hector 2022 Interior
No significant powertrain changes are anticipated in the facelift model. The India-spec Hector will most likely continue to offer the same powertrain options – a 141bhp 1.5-litre turbo-petrol unit, a 141bhp 1.5-litre petrol mild-hybrid, and A 168bhp 2-litre diesel power unit. The petrol powertrain has a CVT automatic transmission as an option, whereas a six-speed manual is standard on the diesel, petrol, and mild-hybrid versions.
The updated MG Hector won’t likely replace the current version; instead, both will continue to remain in the manufacturer’s line-up. The 2022 model will cost more than the current Hector, which is presently priced between ₹14.42 lakh and ₹20.35 lakh (ex-showroom). Following the launch, the 2022 MG Hector will compete with the likes of the Kia Seltos, Jeep Compass, and Mahindra XUV700.
