Mahindra Thar Latest Updates
Mahindra has launched a new rear-wheel drive (RWD) variant of the Thar in India. The SUV also gets a downsized 1.5-litre diesel engine that makes 118PS, available with both automatic and manual transmission options. Also, the 2-litre turbo-petrol engine with an auto ‘box can be had in RWD guise as well.

The Thar’s colour palette has also been updated, and the SUV now gets Blazing Bronze and Everest White options in addition to the previously available Galaxy Grey, Red Rage, Aquamarine, Napoli Black and Rocky Beige paint shades.

Deliveries of the rear-wheel drive Thar are set to commence from January 14. Also, the addition of the 1.5-litre diesel engine in a SUV that measures under four-metres means the Thar’s entry-level pricing goes down from Rs 13.59 lakh to Rs 9.99 lakh.

Mahindra Thar Engine
The Mahindra Thar off-roader SUV comes with three engine options: a 118PS/300Nm 1.5-litre diesel, a 130PS/300Nm 2.2-litre diesel and a 150PS/320Nm 2.0-litre turbo petrol. The 1.5-litre diesel and 2-litre turbo-petrol can be had with rear-wheel drive, while the turbo-petrol and larger diesel engine are offered with four-wheel drive. A 6-speed manual is offered as standard, however, the automatic option is limited to the 2-litre turbo-petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engines. The Thar boasts a water wading ability of 650mm, an approach angle of 41.8 degree, departure angle of 36.8 degree and rampover angle of 27 degree. It’s underpinned by a ladder frame chassis and sits on independent double wishbone suspension at the front and multi link coil springs at the rear.
Mahindra Thar Variants
Mahindra retails the Thar in two variants: AX Opt and LX.

The off-roader SUV can be had in two body styles: a convertible soft top and a fixed hard top. The petrol powered AX variant only gets a convertible top, while the remaining variants can be had with either option.

Mahindra Thar Features
The Thar packs a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment which features off-road stats, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cruise control, roof mounted speakers, manual air conditioner, steering mounted audio controls, a multi-info display, power windows and keyless entry.
