Standard features on the motorcycle include full-LED lighting, an adaptive headlight, keyless ride, heated grips, a Bluetooth-enabled TFT colour display, a 12-volt socket, and a USB charging interface. The electronic rider aids include a traction control system, adaptive cruise control, ABS Pro, three ride modes (Eco, Road, and Rain), and hill-start control. The R 1250 GS comes with a 20-litre fuel tank and it tips the weighing scales at 249kg.
The suspension setup on the motorcycle includes the BMW Motorrad Telelever setup (telescopic forks with a central spring strut) at the front and a BMW Motorrad Paralever (mono-shock) at the rear. The braking tasks are handled by twin discs on the front wheel and a single rotor on the rear wheel. Unlike the Adventure model, the R 1250 GS uses alloy wheels.
