Yamaha Motor India has announced the launch of the new YZF-R15 V4.0 in our market. The 155cc supersport-style motorcycle will be available in two variants (Standard and M) in India.

The r15 price has increased with the introduction of version 4.0 but the higher price tag brings additional features to the motorcycle as compared to version 3.0. Both variants feature a styling upgrade that comprises a revised front fascia and higher-spec hardware. The new models get a bi-functional LED headlight instead of the twin-pod headlamp on the outgoing version. Other styling cues include a full-fairing, M air duct design, step-up seat, and side-slung exhaust. Both motorcycles use a digital instrument cluster, although the M variant further benefits from Bluetooth connectivity, quickshifter, and a traction control system.

The motorcycle is available in four colour options – Metallic Grey, Racing Blue, Dark Knight, and Metallic Red. The company will also offer a limited-edition MotoGP variant of the YZF-R15 M.

The mechanical specifications continue to feature a BS6-compliant 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that now makes 18.1bhp as against 18.3bhp on the outgoing model. The peak torque output is rated at 14.2Nm at 7,500rpm. The six-speed gearbox benefits from a slipper and an assist clutch.

The suspension setup on the motorcycles comprises upside-down front forks and a rear mono-shock. The braking tasks are handled by single discs on both wheels while the safety net is provided by a dual-channel ABS and a side-stand engine cut-off function.
