Tata will be launching the 7-seater version of the Harrier which has been showcased in the Geneva Motor show with the name of Tata Buzzard. However, Tata says that they will not name the SUV as Buzzard when launched in India. The name of the SUV has been now confirmed by Tata as Gravitas. Tata will use the same Fiat-sourced Multi jet 2 engine which will be tuned to produce more power at 170 bhp and will come mated to a 6-speed manual transmission or an AMT for effortless city driving. The exteriors have been derived from the Harrier like the DRL’s placed on the top of the headlamp with the chrome finish. The Buzzard will be 63mm longer and 80mm taller than the Harrier. The Buzzard will get new 19inch alloy wheels which will give it a distinct look. The interiors will sport single touch tumble 2nd-row seats for easy ingress for the 3rd-row occupants. Tata may also throw in some premium touches like Dual-zone automatic climate control, wood-finished dashboard, leather upholstery and chrome surrounded AC vents. While getting accustomed in the third row will also be easy as there will be a large quarter glass which will let in a lot of light. The infotainment system will be updated with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System as the competitors gets these features. Tata will continue to offer the 10 speaker setup from Harman and a subwoofer. Safety features will offer up to six airbags, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist. It may also feature the Harrier’s clever ESP controls. The Tata Buzzard will go against the likes of the Mahindra XUV500 and the Toyota Innova Crysta which also caters to the same segment.
