Ducati India has released a teaser image for its upcoming motorcycle, the Monster SP, ahead of its launch in our market. Previously, the company had confirmed this motorcycle for the Indian market and announced a tentative ex-showroom, India price tag of Rs. 15.95 lakh. However, the actual price of this variant of the Ducati Monster range will be available at launch.

How different is the styling of the Ducati Monster SP?

The overall design of the SP variant is similar to the standard model. Thus, the Ducati Monster SP boasts a projector-style headlight with LED DRL, a compact fly-screen, a muscular fuel tank with front turn indicators under the tank shrouds, a step-up seat, a side-slung twin-pod exhaust, and 17-inch alloy wheels on both ends. Notably, this variant gets a special, dual-tone paint that comprises a red colour with blacked-out parts and a passenger seat cowl.

What features will the Ducati Monster SP get?

This Triumph Street Triple rivalling Ducati roadster will come standard with full-LED lighting, a 4.3-inch colour TFT display, a launch control system, a USB socket, a lithium-ion battery, three ride modes (Sport, Road, and Wet), cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie control, power modes, and a quick-shifter. This motorcycle is also compatible with Ducati Multimedia System and heated grips. The console displays a plethora of information, including a lap timer, fuel gauge, and air temperature.

What are the mechanical specifications of the Ducati Monster SP?

The mechanical specifications of the Monster SP are similar to the standard model. Thus, this variant, too, uses a 973cc, twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor that delivers a maximum output of 109.9bhp at 9,250rpm and a peak torque of 93Nm at 6,500rpm. This engine is linked to a six-speed gearbox that, as aforementioned, benefits from a bidirectional quick-shifter. The maintenance intervals stand at 15,000km or 24 months, while the valve clearance check is scheduled every 30,000km. Internationally, the company claims a fuel economy of 5.2 litres/100km or 19.23kmpl.

What hardware does the Ducati Monster SP use?

The SP variant of the Ducati Monster range boasts higher-specification hardware. Thus, the suspension tasks are handled by Ohlins-sourced NIX 43mm upside-down front forks and an Ohlins rear monoshock – both fully adjustable. The anchoring setup comprises twin 320mm front discs with Brembo Stylema monoblock four-piston callipers at the front and a single 245mm rotor with Brembo two-piston calliper at the back. Then, the 17-inch wheels are shod in Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres. Other key dimensions comprise a 14-litre fuel tank, 840mm of seat height, and a kerb weight of 186kg.
