FCA India had a shot at stardom with its latest offering – the Jeep Compass – thanks to the brand’s strong heritage right since the year 1945, when production of what was once referred to as the Willys-Overland Civilian Jeep had begun, later followed by the Wrangler series in 1986. Having been made with solid axles and an open-top, it was used by the Army during World War II – and since became an icon among off-road enthusiasts the world over.

For 2021, Jeep has launched the updated Compass with minor revisions to the exterior, substantial updates to the interior, and a revised equipment list. The Jeep Compass prices have also been revised, and it now demands a slight premium over its predecessor.

Jeep Compass Exterior

The Jeep Compass new model gets minimal changes to the exterior. It now gets updated front and rear bumpers, along with a set of updated projector LED headlamps and a new design for the alloy wheels. There are no sheet metal changes, and the mid-size Jeep still appears to be the butch and rugged SUV it was when it first arrived in the Indian market.

Jeep Compass Variants

The Jeep Compass variants are as follows: Sport, Longitude (O), Limited (O), 80th Anniversary Edition, and Model S. It still gets dual-zone climate control, a rear parking camera, rear AC vents, auto headlamps, panoramic sunroof, rain-sensing wipers, auto-dimming rear-view mirror and electrically-adjustable tan leather seats with memory function. However, with the 2021 update, the Compass now also sports connected car tech, a 10.1-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple Carplay/ Android Auto, ventilated front seats, and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster.

Jeep Compass Interior

Despite being just a facelift update, the Jeep Compass gets a heavily redesigned interior. It is fitted with richer materials, gets better equipment, and a new layout for the dashboard. The driver sits facing a new 10.25-inch instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch floating infotainment unit. The three-spoke steering wheel, too, is all-new and gels well with the plush design of the dashboard. For the on-road price, Jeep Compass now gets an amazing interior setup with the 2021 facelift update.

Jeep Compass Engine Specifications & Performance

The 2021 Jeep Compass remains mechanically unchanged from the pre-facelift model. This means, it still comes powered by a 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, good for 160bhp and 250Nm of torque, and a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine that produces 168bhp and 350Nm of torque. The petrol comes paired to either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, while the diesel comes mated to a 6-speed manual or a nine-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
