The third-generation Maruti Suzuki Dzire sees a significant change from the previous model. Firstly, Maruti has decided to drop the ‘Swift’ from the name, calling it just the Dzire. The new generation Dzire now also sits on the Heartect platform, which made its first appearance with the Baleno hatchback. This has allowed the Dzire to be significantly lighter in overall weight, thus leading to better fuel economy, and also a roomier cabin than before.

For 2020, Maruti Suzuki has mildly updated the new Dzire with a reprofiled front bumper, new dual-tone alloy wheels, and a few tweaks on the inside. With the update, Maruti Suzuki Dzire prices have also been revised slightly.

Maruti Suzuki Dzire Exterior

The Maruti Suzuki Dzire has been given a mild exterior styling makeover. At the front, the top-spec variant makes do with LED projector headlamps replete with LED daytime running lamps. There’s an all-new front bumper with a chrome embellishment around the lower half of the fog lamp housing. It also has a new twin-slat grille, which neatly merges with the central air dam. The Dzire is offered with either a choice of 165/80 R14 steel wheels or 185/65 R15 alloy wheels, which on the top trim have a diamond-cut design.

Maruti Suzuki Dzire Variants

The Maruti Suzuki Dzire variants are as follows: LXi, VXi, VXi AMT, ZXi, ZXi AMT, ZXi+, and ZXi+ AMT. The 2020 update adds several new features to the equipment list such as a new coloured MID, Maruti Suzuki’s Smartplay studio infotainment system (which still includes Apple Carplay/Android Auto), and cruise control.

Other nice-to-have features such as rear parking sensors and camera, keyless entry, auto-folding ORVMs, projector headlamps, and automatic climate control are also a part of the equipment list. ABS with EBD and dual airbags are standard across the variants.

Maruti Suzuki Dzire Interior

The Maruti Dzire new model is based on the Heartect platform and all-new body which has been designed to be lightweight, and offer the most amount of cabin space as possible which can seat up to 5 passengers. The interior cabin of the Dzire has an all-new layout with a dual-tone colour scheme on the dashboard and door panels.

The Dzire now features the Smartplay Studio Infotainment System with Navigation and Voice Command with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, leather-wrapped steering wheel, satin chrome accents on the console, gear lever and steering wheel. However, there are some hard plastics and the burl wood ornamentation on the steering wheel and dashboard is an acquired taste.

Maruti Suzuki Dzire Engine Specifications & Performance

The Maruti Dzire comes with a sole 1.2-litre four-cylinder K12C Dualjet petrol engine, good for 89bhp and 113Nm of torque. This is the same engine that made its debut in the Baleno last year. However, unlike the Baleno, the Dzire is not offered with the company’s SHVS mild-hybrid system. It comes mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox. The AMT demands a slight increase in the Maruti Suzuki Dzire on-road price, in comparison to the manual. The AMT does, however, get Electronic Stability Programme and Hill Hold Assist as a standard addition.

The Maruti Suzuki Dzire has a very comfortable ride as it features a McPherson Strut suspension at the front, and a torsion beam set up at the rear. However, the rear set up is a little stiff at slow speeds, but at higher speeds, it evens out the bumps very well.
