The Tata Safari is a six/seven-seater SUV with outstanding performance, plush interiors, and modern technology, becoming a combination of power and sophistication. This versatile SUV has been built on an architecture derived from the D8 platform of the Land Rover.

Tata Safari Engine and Other Specifications

This SUV has been provided with a ‘BS-6 Phase2’ compliant 2.0 L Kryotec turbocharged engine having a configuration of four inline cylinders with four valves per cylinder operated by a dual overhead camshaft. It churns out a maximum power of 168bhp at 3750 rpm and a peak torque of 350 Nm at 1750 rpm. The ARAI-claimed Tata Safari mileage is 14 km/l; the mileage figure changes in different variants.

A few variants of this SUV get a six-speed automatic (TC) transmission system while a few get a manual transmission system. The minimum turning radius of this FWD car is 11.6 metres, and it has a cruise control feature and three drive modes christened Eco, City, and Sport. Further, its suspension setup includes an independent, lower wishbone, McPherson strut with coil spring and anti-roll bar in the front, and a semi-independent twist blade with Panhard rod and coil spring in the rear. The size of the wheels is 16 inches for XE, XM, XMS, and XMAS variants while the rest variants possess 18-inch alloy wheels, both wear 235mm wide tyres with slightly differing aspect ratios. The braking duties of the Safari car are performed by the disc brakes.

In terms of dimensions, it is a 4661mm long and 1894mm wide vehicle with a wheelbase of 2741mm. The height of the car is 1786mm along with a ground clearance of 205mm. Its boot space is 447 litres and its fuel tank capacity is 50 litres.

This majestically designed car flaunts a chrome studded tri-arrow front grille, projector headlamps, dual-function daytime running lights with turn indicators, electrically adjustable outer rear-view mirrors with blinkers, and a sturdy front skid plate. Furthermore, it exhibits machined alloy wheels, iconic roof rails with Safari branding, a shark fin antenna, and signature twin LED tail lamps. Moreover, this Tata car gets rain-sensing wipers, a rear spoiler, high mounted stop lamp, and a rear skid plate.

The cabin of the car boasts a soft touch dashboard with an anti-reflective ‘Nappa’ grain layer along with a multifunction power-assisted (hydraulic) leather-wrapped steering wheel having a tilt and telescopic column. Further, it includes a new generation seven-inch digital TFT instrument cluster, a floating-like seven-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, and a panoramic sunroof with blue mood lights. The seats have been designed with the intent to provide better comfort which is why the SUV gets ventilated front seats with driver seat height adjustability and lumbar support. The manufacturer provides an option to have ventilated captain seats in the second row as well. Additionally, the Tata Safari interior encompasses smart A-type and C-type chargers in all three rows, a wireless phone charger, a rear armrest with cup holders, an air purifier, 200+ voice commands acceptability in six languages, and a fully automatic temperature control system with heating, ventilation, and air-conditions systems.

On the safety front, this car gets six airbags inclusive of curtain airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts, central locking, and an auto-dimming inner rear-view mirror. Apart from these, it has a hill descent control feature, hill hold control, traction control system, rollover mitigation, and most importantly the driver doze-off alert to keep the driver attentive at all times and ensure a safer life behind the wheels. Moreover, the new Tata Safari comes equipped with an antilock braking system, an electronic brake force distribution system, electronic stability control, rear parking sensors, an electronic parking brake with auto hold trait, a 360-degree surround view camera, and ADAS consisting of a forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, traffic sign recognition, high beam assist, lane departure warning, blind spot detection, lane change alert, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear collision warning feature.

Tata Safari Price and Variants

This Tata SUV is sold in 34 variants and each comes with slightly different features and colour options, therefore aforementioned offerings may not be available in all the variants. Talking about colour options, it is offered in six colours – Royale Blue, Daytona Grey, Orcus White, Tropical Mist, Orcus White Adventure, and Oberon Black.
