BMW iX Car Latest Updates

BMW has taken the wraps off its first ‘M’ electric SUV, the iX M60. It is powered by a dual-motor setup that generates 619PS and 1100Nm, 94PS and 335Nm more than the standard xDrive50 trim. The iX M60 can go from nought to 100kmph within 3.8 seconds, and its top speed is electronically limited to 250kmph.

Currently, BMW offers the iX in India in a fully loaded xDrive 40 trim, priced at Rs 1.16 crore (ex-showroom). However, it has already been sold out, and deliveries will commence in April 2022. The iX competes with the Mercedes-Benz EQC, Audi e-tron, and Jaguar I-Pace.

BMW iX Engine

The BMW iX gets a 331PS/630Nm dual-motor setup, paired with a 76.6kWh battery pack. It returns a claimed range of up to 425km. The electric SUV can go from 0-100kmph in 6.1 seconds.The battery can be charged from 0-80 percent in 73 minutes with a 50kW DC charger. A 100 percent charge with a 11kW home charger takes seven hours. The carmaker is also providing a complimentary wallbox charger.

BMW iX Variants

The BMW iX is available in a single fully loaded xDrive 40 trim. Internationally, the SUV can be had in a second trim, the xDrive 50. A powerful M60 trim is on the cards too.

The SUV comes in five colour options: Mineral White, Phytonic Blue, Black Sapphire, Sophisto Grey, and Aventurine Red.

Key Features of BMW iX

The BMW iX features the carmaker’s latest iDrive 8 infotainment system with a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display and a 14.9-inch touchscreen system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, connected car tech, an 18-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a head-up display, cruise control, a panoramic glass roof, four-zone climate control, ambient lighting, and wireless charging. Safety is taken care of by multiple airbags, reverse assist, a 360-degree camera, a tyre pressure monitor, and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC). It also gets some ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) features, including automatic vehicle deceleration, lane departure warning, blind spot detection, and front collision warning. P.S. The SUV has secured a 5-star safety rating in the Euro NCAP test.
