About Ferrari Purosangue SUV

Ferrari is finally developing their first ever SUV which will be called the Purosangue. One of the 15 new vehicles Ferrari has planned before 2022, the Purosangue will be the Italian carmaker’s take on the likes of the Lamborghini Urus, Porsche Cayenne, Aston Martin DBX and Range Rover Sport.

The Ferrari-on-stilts would be more of a crossover than a full-blown SUV. The early test mules of the Purosangue are being tested with GTC4 Lusso body. Under the skin, we expect a brand new platform with the engine in the front and power going to all four wheels. Codenamed F16X internally, the Purosangue is rumoured to have an all-aluminium chassis and that the B-pillar will be eliminated with the use of suicidal doors. Ferrari has remained tight-lipped about their first-ever SUV and there are no official details about the high-riding Prancing Horse at the moment.

On the inside, it being a Ferrari SUV, we do expect it to offer comfortable seating for four along with a practical boot. The dashboard and seats – in typical Ferrari fashion – will be sporty and offer an immense amount of driver involvement. We expect sporty bits from the 812 Superfast and the newly revealed SF90 Stradale to be carried over in the Purosangue as well.

The high-riding Ferrari is expected to make use of the turbocharged V8 just like the Urus and the DBX. The iconic V12 from the flagship will be too farfetched for the SUV and since it is expected to sell in high numbers, the V8 should also keep emission norms in check. The power will be sent to an all-wheel-drive system via an automatic gearbox and we expect techs like four-wheel steering, adjustable ride height and more to be part of the hardware on offer.
