The Tata Punch is a SUV car with a seating capacity of five people. It is available in India at a price range of Rs. 5.99 Lakh to 10.09 Lakh . There are 33 different variants of the Punch and it comes in eight different colours. Tata Punch is offered with petrol engine only with CNG option. The boot space of the Punch is 366 litres while it’s ground clearance is 187 mm. The petrol engine has a displacement of 1199cc and produces 86.63bhp of power and a torque of 115nm while on CNG it produces 86.63bhp@6000rpm of power and a torque of 115nm@3150-3350rpm. The Punch is available with both manual and automatic transmission options. The mileage of Punch varies from 18.8 Kmpl on petrol to 26.99km/kg on cng.

Tata Punch Car Latest Updates

Tata has launched the Punch CNG at prices starting from Rs 7.1 lakh (ex-showroom). The CNG kit is available on five variants, which carry a premium of up to Rs 1.61 lakh over the standard variants. With the CNG trims, Tata has also introduced features such as a sunroof, Type-C USB charger, front armrest, and a shark fin antenna to the Punch’s list.

As first seen in the Altroz CNG, the Punch CNG too gets a twin-cylinder technology, which liberates extra boot space.

Tata Punch Engine

The Tata Punch gets the carmaker’s 1.2-litre petrol engine putting out 86PS and 113Nm. This engine has been revised to meet RDE (real driving emissions) norms and can even run on E20 fuel (with 20 percent ethanol). The SUV gets the choice of either a 5-speed manual or an AMT. The CNG kit is paired to the 1.2-litre petrol mill and puts out 73.4PS and 103Nm in CNG mode. In terms of fuel efficiency, the manual variant returns 20.09kmpl, while the AMT delivers 18.8kmpl. In terms of dimensions, the Tata Punch SUV is 3,827mm long, 1,742mm wide, and 1,615mm tall. The model stands on a 2,445mm wheelbase and has a ground clearance of 187mm.

Tata Punch Variants

Tata offers the Punch SUV in four broad trims: Pure, Adventure, Accomplished, and Creative.

The CNG kit is available in five variants: Pure, Adventure, Adventure Rhythm, Accomplished, and Accomplished Dazzle S.

In terms of colour choices, there are nine options to choose from: Tornado Blue, Calypso Red, Meteor Bronze, Atomic Orange, Tropical Mist, Foliage Green, Grassland Beige, Daytona Grey, and Orcus White.


Do note that the Grassland Beige and Foliage Green colours are part of the special editions, namely the Kaziranga Edition and Camo Edition, respectively.

Key Features of Tata Punch

The Tata Punch gets a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system, with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, connected car tech, automatic climate control, a Harman sound system, a semi-digital instrument cluster, cruise control and keyless entry with push-button start. New features include a sunroof, Type-C USB charger, front armrest and a shark fin antenna. Passenger safety is reinforced with dual airbags, ABS with EBD and rear parking sensors with a parking camera. Topping up the cake is the Punch’s reassuring performance in the Global NCAP safety tests with a full 5-star rating.

Tata Punch Competitors

The Tata Punch rivals the Hyundai Exter, Mahindra KUV100 NXT and Maruti Suzuki Ignis. It’s also an alternative to similarly priced cars like the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Nissan Magnite, and Renault Kiger.
