The Pulsar NS160 was Bajaj’s entry into the popular 160cc sporty streetfighter category. Its styling is similar to its bigger sibling, the NS200. It offers a good balance of performance and mileage, thanks to its smaller engine.

Price:

The Pulsar NS160 is priced at Rs 1,36,736 (ex-showroom Delhi), and is available in one variant. There are three colours to choose from: Ebony Black, Pearl Metallic White and Red.

Features:

The Pulsar NS160 gets a sharp, aggressive streetfighter design with a muscular mass-forward look. It features a halogen headlight with pilot lamps, and a semi-digital instrument cluster indicating speed, revs, fuel level, clock, odometer and trip meter readings. The updated 2023 model gets a slightly revised console with readouts for the gear position, real time mileage and distance to empty. However, it still misses out on smartphone connectivity and navigation. Ensuring the bike’s comfortable yet slightly sporty riding stance is the raised clip-on handlebar and split seats.

Engine:

The Pulsar NS160 employs a 160.3cc air-cooled motor with an oil-cooler, working in conjunction with a 5-speed gearbox. It produces 17.2PS and 14.6Nm,. The updated NS160 makes the same output figures but is now BS6.2 (OBD-2 compliant) ready.

Suspension & Brakes:

The Pulsar NS160 is built on a perimeter frame, linked to a 33mm upside down fork and a preload-adjustable monoshock. Braking is via a 300mm circular disc up front with Grimeca calipers, and a 230mm disc at the rear, with the safety net of dual-channel ABS. The motorcycle rolls on 17-inch alloys, wrapped in 100/80 and 130/70 section MRF Nylogrip Zapper rubber at the front and rear respectively.

The previous-gen NS160 ran a telescopic fork and was accompanied by a 260mm petal disc up front paired with ByBre calipers and single-channel ABS as standard. It rolled on 17-inch alloy wheels with a 90-section front and 120-section rear tubeless tyre.

Rivals:

The Bajaj Pulsar NS160 rivals the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Suzuki Gixxer, Yamaha FZ-S V4, and Hero Xtreme 160R. But as far as pricing is concerned, the bike also goes up against the TVS Apache 180.
