Toyota Rumion Latest Update

Last Updated On 26th Dec’22: When launched, the Rumion MPV will be available with same engine – gearbox options as the Ertiga. This means it will get a 1.5-litre engine with both petrol and CNG fuel type option. An automatic will be offer with the petrol unit. Unlike the XL6, the Rumion will be sold with a bench type 2nd row. Expect similar pricing as the Ertiga. 

Exterior

As mentioned before, the Toyota Rumion is a rebadged version of the Ertiga and its exterior design will give it away right away. However, some subtle changes help it distinguish itself. The front fascia boasts the same headlight design, but the front grille has been slightly altered with chrome linings and the Toyota badge on it. Similarly, the front bumper with the air vents has also been styled differently. Aside from that, the rest of the exterior looks the same as the Ertiga. However, the Rumion is available in four colours – Azure Blue, Blazing Red, Shadow Black Pearl, and Seal Grey Metallic – None of these colour options are available with the Ertiga.

Interior

The cabin of the 2022 Toyota Rumion gets an all-black theme and the seats are covered in black upholstery as well. The dashboard with the faux-covered air vent design is the same as the Ertiga’s. So, are the steering wheel, the instrument cluster behind, and the 7-inch touchscreen at the centre of the dashboard. There are three rows of seating, with split functionality. 

Features

The features available with the Toyota Rumion are the same as the Maruti Ertiga’s offering. Features like the infotainment system that supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, steering-mounted audio controls, dual front airbags, and a rear parking camera – are all available with the Maruti MPV. Safety features are the same too, which includes, driver and passenger-side airbags, ABS with EBD, an anti-theft system, ISOFIX child seats, child locks, and a rear park distance alert, as well. 

Engine

Mechanically, the Toyota Rumion is powered by the same 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine that produces 105 Ps @ 6,000 RPM, and 138 Nm of torque @ 4,400 Nm of torque. This engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The Ertiga also comes with a 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission, now will the Rumion get that as well, remains to be confirmed. 

Launch and Price

Toyota Kirloskar Motors has not confirmed the Rumion’s launch as of yet. It was expected to launch in March 2022, but since that didn’t happen, we now expect that the launch might happen sometime in mid-2022 or late-2022, at the latest. Toyota is expected to price the Rumion.
