Mahindra Thar Latest Update

Latest Update: Mahindra has rolled out one lakh units of the Thar since its debut in October 2020. The SUV maker recently  after she won the “Emerging Boxing Icon” award. Also, might make a comeback soon. 

Price: Its prices range between Rs 9.99 lakh and tops at Rs 16.49 lakh (ex-showroom pan-India).

Variants: The off-roader is available in two broad trims: AX(O) and LX.

Colours: It can be had in six colour options: Everest White (new), Blazing Bronze (new), Aquamarine, Red Rage, Napoli Black and Galaxy Grey.

Engine and Transmission: The 4WD variants of the off-road SUV come with a 2-litre turbo-petrol engine (150PS/320Nm) and a 2.2-litre diesel engine (130PS/300Nm), both paired with a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic transmission. The RWD variants are available with a smaller 1.5-litre diesel engine (118PS/300Nm) which only comes with a six-speed manual transmission, and the turbo-petrol unit with a six-speed automatic only.

Features: It gets a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The Thar is also equipped with cruise control, halogen headlights with LED DRLs, electrically controlled AC, and steering-mounted controls. Mahindra has also included a washable interior floor as well as detachable roof panels.

Safety: Passenger safety is taken care of by dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, hill descent control, traction control, rear parking sensors and a front seat belt reminder.

Rivals: The Mahindra Thar is a direct rival to the Force Gurkha and Maruti Suzuki Jimny. It also rivals similarly priced monocoque compact SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Astor, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Toyota Hyryder and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.
