Kawasaki India has announced the launch of the 2023 iteration of its litre-class touring motorcycle, the Versys 1000, in our market.

The 2023 iteration of the Versys 1000 is available in a single variant and one colour option in the Indian market. The only paint theme available for the 2023 Kawasaki Versys 1000 is the dual-tone Metallic Matte Graphenesteel Grey with Metallic Spark Black. Meanwhile, the 2023 model retains the styling cues from the 2022 version and continues to feature a twin-pod headlight, fairing integrated cornering lights, an adjustable windscreen, a step-up seat design, a rear luggage rack, and a side-slung exhaust.

The features, too, are similar to the previous version. Thus, the 2023 Kawasaki Versys 1000 continues to use full-LED lighting, a semi-digital instrument cluster that includes an analogue-style tachometer with an LCD screen, Bosch IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) with Kawasaki Cornering Management Function, ABS, traction control system, assist and slipper clutch, electronic cruise control, and a DC socket as standard. Notably, the DC socket was previously sold as an accessory.

The mechanical specifications retain the 1,043cc, inline-four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine with four valves per cylinder. Linked to a six-speed gearbox, this motor is tuned to deliver a maximum output of 118.2bhp at 9,000rpm and 102Nm of peak torque at 7,500rpm. This gearbox features an assist and slipper clutch mechanism.

The suspension setup on the 2023 Kawasaki Versys 1000, similar to its predecessor, includes 43mm upside-down front forks and a rear monoshock. The front forks and rear monoshock are adjustable for rebound damping and preload. The anchoring setup includes dual 310mm discs with dual radial-mount, monobloc, opposed 4-piston callipers at the front, and a single 250mm rotor with a single-piston calliper at the back. The 17-inch alloy wheels are wrapped in 120/70-section front and 180/55-section rear tyres.

The 2023 Kawasaki Versys 1000 competes in the same price range as the BMW F 900 XR and the Triumph Tiger 850 Sport.
