Mercedes-Benz has launched a new entry-level trim for the G-Class SUV. Priced at Rs 2.55 crore, the new G 400d trim replaces the 350d trim sold before and packs the most powerful diesel engine to be fitted to a Mercedes ever. It comes in two further variants called Adventure Edition and AMG Line. While the latter is a usual Mercedes variant, the Adventure Edition has been built specifically for India. It is aimed at people with an adventurous lifestyle with its roof rails and spare wheel holder, while the AMG line is more suitable for people with an urban lifestyle. Bookings for the off-roading SUV are open for a token amount of Rs 1.5 lakh and the first units will start reaching customers around September.

Mercedes has equipped the G-Class with a 3-litre twin-turbo six-cylinder diesel engine for puissance duties. Its output of 330PS and 700Nm makes it the most powerful diesel engine fitted to a road Mercedes ever and helps it clock a 0-100kmph time of just 6.4 seconds.
