Honda Shine Bike Latest Updates

Honda has launched the OBD 2-compliant Shine 125 in India. Here’s your first look at it.

Honda Shine is a popular commuter bike from the Japanese brand, known for its bulletproof, fuel-efficient engine, and solid build quality. It is India’s best-selling 125cc bike.

Honda Shine Engine

The Honda Shine is powered by a single-cylinder, OBD 2-compliant 123.94cc, air-cooled engine, which is paired with a 5-speed transmission. The engine produces 10.74PS and 11Nm and the bike comes with a 10.5-litre fuel tank. The Shine is built on a diamond frame, which is suspended by a telescopic front fork and dual shock absorbers at the rear. Braking is looked after by 240mm disc/130mm drum up front and a 130mm drum unit at the rear. The bike rolls on 18-inch alloys, which come wrapped in 80-section tubeless tyres. The bike has a seat height of 791mm, with 162mm of ground clearance and it weighs 114kg (kerb).

Honda Shine Variants

The Honda Shine comes in two variants (disc & drum) and can be purchased in five distinctive colours. Apart from the difference in braking hardware, the remaining mechanicals and features are similar across the board.

Honda Shine Design

The Honda Shine comes with a conservative, yet sharp design. Its headlight cowl comes with chrome accents, and the side panels get a chrome highlight as well, for a premium appeal. The sporty-looking graphics enhance the bike’s looks too. It features a long single-piece seat and ergonomics that encourage a laid-back riding posture, to suit daily commutes. The bike also gets a redesigned instrument console.

Key Features of Honda Shine

Honda Shine comes with useful features including a silent engine starter, and an engine kill switch. Its twin-pod analogue instrument cluster features a speedometer, fuel gauge, tell-tale lights, as well as a side-stand indicator with engine cut-off function for added safety.

Honda Shine Competitors

The Honda Shine rivals the likes of the Hero Super SplendorHero Glamour, and the Bajaj CT125X.
