TVS Jupiter 125 Bike Latest Updates

The TVS Jupiter 125 is the Hosur-based bikemaker’s second 125cc scooter in India after the NTorq 125. While the NTorq is meant for young buyers looking for performance, the Jupiter 125 is meant to appeal to a wider set of audience. It has proven to be a comfortable, frugal and an extremely practical scooter. Here’s how it rides.

TVS Jupiter 125 Engine

The Jupiter 125 is powered by a 124.8cc fuel-injected two-valve motor, delivering an 8.3PS and 10.5Nm. In our mileage tests, it offered 57.27kmpl in the city and 52.91kmpl on the highway. The engine sits inside a new frame that’s sprung on a telescopic fork and a three-step preload-adjustable gas-charged monoshock setup. Thanks to the new chassis, the 5.1-litre fuel tank is repositioned under the floorboard, making way for a humongous under-seat storage capable of holding two helmets. It runs on 12-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels (on the top-spec variant) with 90-section tubeless tyres, clamped by a 220mm disc up front (130mm drum also available as a variant) and a 130mm rear drum brake. At 109kg, the Jupiter 125 weighs 2kg more than its 110cc counterpart.

TVS Jupiter 125 Variants

TVS Jupiter 125 comes in three variants: Drum variant priced at Rs 83,605, Drum-Alloy variant costing Rs 86,155 and the Disc Brake variant at a price of Rs 90,405. All ex-showroom Delhi. The base variant comes with steel wheels, whereas the mid-spec version comes with a pair of alloys. The range-topping version features a front disc, in addition to alloy wheels.

TVS Jupiter 125 Design

TVS Jupiter 125’s design looks quite similar to its smaller sibling, it just looks bulkier. Visually it is conservative enough, with a flowing design and no over-the-top elements. However, the LED DRLs and all its chrome highlights help it stand out from its 110cc counterpart. The Jupiter 125 even features an LED taillight with body-coloured grab rail (with integrated reflector) giving it a premium appearance. The Drum variant is offered in two colours — Titanium Grey & Pristine White — while the Drum-Alloy variant gets a third colour named Indiblue. The top-spec Disc variant gets a fourth colour: Dawn Orange.

Key Features of TVS Jupiter 125

The Jupiter 125 packs quite a few features which include LED headlight/tail lamp/DRLs, while the indicators get halogen bulbs. Additionally, the scooter features an informative semi-digital instrument console that shows mileage, fuel level, distance-to-empty and Eco/Power indication. TVS skipped Bluetooth connectivity feature but has said it would introduce the same if the market demands so. The Jupiter 125 takes practicality up a notch by incorporating a front fuel-filler cap, class-leading 33-litre boot, a two-litre front cubby space (with USB charging) and a multi-function key. A silent starter (iTouchStart) comes as a standard feature and there’s even an idling-stop-start system for improved fuel efficiency (as TVS claims).
