Ather Energy recently discontinued the 450 Plus and has introduced a new ‘450X without Pro Pack’ for Rs 30k less, cutting down on smart features. Click here to find out what’s new and what still remains the same.

Ather 450X Engine

The Ather 450X is powered by a PMS motor, which produces a nominal power of 3kW and a peak power of 6.2kW, with 26Nm torque, that gives this e-scooter a claimed top speed of 90kmph. The motor is run using an IP67 3.7kWh battery pack, which offers the 450X a certified range of 146km. On the regular Ather (without Pro-pack) the battery takes more than 15 hours to fully charge, while with Pro-pack the battery fully charges in about 5 hours 40 minutes. The EV is put together on an aluminium chassis, which is suspended on a telescopic front fork and a monoshock unit at the rear. A 200mm front disc and a 190mm rear disc units are used to look after braking on the 450X, with CBS and regenerative braking coming as standard features. The 450X rolls on 12 inch alloy wheels, which are wrapped in 90-section front and 100-section rear tubeless tyres. It weighs 111.6kg (kerb) and has a ground clearance of 153mm, along with 780mm seat height.

Ather 450X Range

As per our tests, the 450X comes with a range of 142km in Eco mode.

Ather 450X Charging Time

The 450X’ battery takes five hours and forty minutes to get fully charged.

Ather 450X Variants

The Ather 450X is offered with or without Pro Pack, and comes in six paint schemes: Space Grey, Still White, Salt Green, True Red, Cosmic Black and Lunar Grey. The one without Pro Pack lacks smart features, including the fast charging capability, riding modes and smartphone connected instrument cluster.

Ather 450X Design

The 3rd generation Ather 450X is quite a practical e-scooter with sporty looks. From apron-mounted LED headlight to its sleek body panels, everything on this e-scooter adds up well and fits perfectly to its character. The e-scooter has a flat floorboard, which extends on the either sides, to act as pillion footrests, thus reducing moving parts. The latest iteration of the 450X features a redesigned seat for better rider and pillion comfort. The sleek LED tail-lamp extends downward into turn-signals at the rear, adding to the distinctiveness of the e-scooter.

Key Features of Ather 450X

With the latest AtherStack 5.0 software update, the 3rd generation Ather 450X gets a host of changes which can be accessed through its IP65 7-inch colour-TFT touch-enabled console. Its layout has witnessed a subtle revision, with top-right positioned Bluetooth prompt and time readouts, similar to what we get on a mobile phone. The console comes with several gesture functions, to facilitate better user interaction. The 450X already came with Google Maps support, with the new firmware adding ‘3D Vector’ Maps to provide perspective change, just like Android Auto (in cars). The updated maps interface gives real-time traffic updates to the rider. There’s also a trip planner on offer, in case you want to plan stops along the way, say to reach charging stations, on long-distance trips. Additionally, it gets an Auto Hold (hill hold) feature, which could essentially function almost indefinitely, till you tap the brakes for disengagement. The 450X comes with all-LED illumination and the e-scooter also has Bluetooth-enabled call and music controls. Moreover, the 450X comes with integrated 4G LTE SIM connectivity. It also gets 2GB RAM, along with 16GB internal storage. The aforementioned features, however, are offered as ‘Pro-pack’, at additional costs, without which you’ll be missing out on them all. The 450X without Pro-pack comes with a black-and-white display and lacks the 5 riding modes as well, which are: Smart Eco, Eco, Ride, Sport and Warp. That said, Ather also offers an optional faster charger (Ather Dot) for the variant without the Pro Pack for Rs 7,500 (valid until stocks last).
