Market introduction:

The 2023 Tata Safari was launched in India on 22 February, 2023.

Variants:

The updated Safari is available in seven variants including XE, XM, XMS, XT+, XZ, XZ+, and XZA+(O). Also up for offer are the Adventure, Dark, and Red Dark editions.

Engine and transmission: 

This SUV is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that produces 168bhp and 350Nm of torque and it is paired with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The Kryotec motor has been updated and now complies with the BS6 2.0 and RDE norms. 

Exterior:

The Safari has been fitted with HID Xenon projector headlamp units along with DRLs. Similarly, it features dual-LED stripe tail lamps. The Safari has 18-inch alloy wheels as standard for most top-spec models. In the front, it gets a chrome studded tri-arrow front grille.

Interior:

The interiors of the new Safari now come equipped with a 360-degree camera, an ADAS suite, a new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a fully digital instrument console, and welcome and memory functions for the six-way electrically adjustable front seats.

Safety and features:

Additionally, the SUV comes with a cooled glovebox, a seven-inch TFT colour display in the instrument cluster, a nine-speaker JBL sound system, and ambient lighting. Tata offers various features such as six airbags, hill hold control, rollover mitigation, corner stability control, four discs brakes, cruise control, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, auto headlamps and wipers, and a panoramic sunroof. Front and rear ventilated seats are offered on the six-seater top trim.

Colours:

The refreshed Safari is available in five colours including Orcus White, Daytona Grey, Royale Blue, Orcus White Adventure Persona, and Tropical Mist Adventure Persona. Customers can also choose from the Dark Red Dark editions.

Agreed that this iteration can’t really hold the torch to the original Safari in terms of off-road hardware/capability. But, as a six or seven-seater SUV for the urban world, this new Safari has almost every box checked. It’s usable, comfortable, drivable, feature-rich, and has loads of street presence.
