Honda’s first electric offering for the Indian market will likely be the Activa electric. That’s because Honda Activa has been the best-selling scooter in India for years, so it’s only logical for the Japanese brand to cash in on the scooter’s popularity and develop an electric iteration. The e-scooter is likely to be a mid-range vehicle with a fixed battery pack. Honda had also teamed up with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) to establish a network of battery swapping stations across the country at the latter’s petrol pumps. Once launched, the Honda Activa Electric will rival the likes of Okinawa and Hero Electric scooters, both in terms of pricing and performance. It could come with a price tag of around Rs 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom).
