The Maruti Baleno is a hatchback car with a seating capacity of five people. It is available in India at a price range of Rs. 6.60 Lakh to 9.87 Lakh . There are nine different variants of the Baleno and it comes in seven different colours. Maruti Baleno is offered with petrol engine only with CNG option. The boot space of the Baleno is 318 litres. The petrol engine has a displacement of 1197cc and produces 88.50bhp of power and a torque of 113nm while on CNG it produces 88.50bhp@6000rpm of power and a torque of 113nm@4400rpm. The Baleno is available with both manual and automatic transmission options. The mileage of Baleno varies from 22.35 Kmpl on petrol to 30.61km/kg on cng.

Maruti Baleno Car Latest Updates

Maruti is rolling out a new over-the-air (OTA) software update for its SmartPlay Pro and Pro+ infotainment systems. It adds a new turn-by-turn (TBT) navigation feature to the Baleno’s heads-up display (HUD) in the top-spec model. In lower-spec variants, the TBT navigation will be displayed on the MID after the update. In addition, the Baleno’s lower variant with six speakers also gets Arkamys Surround Sense audio tuning.

In other news, Maruti has issued a recall of 17,362 cars over a faulty airbag controller. That number also includes units of the Baleno manufactured between December 08 and January 12. In case of a fault, the airbags and seat belt pretensioners might not deploy during a crash. Inspection and replacement of the faulty part will be done for free and Maruti’s authorised service centres will contact the owners of the affected vehicles. Until then, the carmaker has advised affected vehicle owners to not drive their cars.

Maruti Baleno Engine

Under the bonnet, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno gets the familiar 1.2-litre Dualjet petrol engine that makes 90PS/113Nm. The Baleno also trades its older CVT for a new AMT automatic transmission, with a 5-speed manual gearbox offered as standard. Maruti no longer offers a mild-hybrid variant, but the Baleno’s engine still has idle start/stop tech for better fuel efficiency. The carmaker claims economy figures of 22.35kmpl for the manual gearbox variant, while the automatic returns 22.94kmpl. In CNG mode, the output of the engine reduces to 77PS and 98.5Nm, but the fuel efficiency increases to 30.61km/kg.

Maruti Baleno Variants

The Maruti Suzuki Baleno comes in four broad trims: Sigma, Delta, Zeta, and Alpha. The mid-spec Delta and Zeta trims are available with a CNG kit as well.

Six colours are on offer: Nexa Blue, Opulent Red, Grandeur Grey, Luxe Beige, Splendid Silver, and Arctic White.

Key Features of Maruti Baleno

The new Maruti Suzuki Baleno gets 16-inch alloy wheels, LED projector headlamps, and LED fog lamps. It also has a new cruise control system and segment-first head-up display (HUD) for essential driver’s instrumentation. Other new equipment includes rear AC vents, auto-dimming inside rearview mirror, and a 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ HD infotainment screen paired with an Arkamys-tuned Surround Sense audio system. Key safety features include six airbags, stability control, hill hold assist, rear parking sensors, and ABS and EBD. The 2022 Maruti Suzuki Baleno also has a new 360-degree camera for better manoeuvrability in tight spaces.

The Maruti Suzuki Baleno’s chief rivals are premium hatchbacks such as the Tata Altroz, Hyundai i20, Toyota Glanza, and Honda Jazz.
