The Dominar 400 is Bajaj’s attempt to capture the 300-400cc touring segment, one that’s dominated by Royal Enfield bikes. It is based on the KTM 390 Duke, but comes with a performance-oriented cruiser styling, and is designed to munch miles on the highway with ease. The Dominar 400 is also Bajaj’s flagship bike. Price:

The Bajaj Dominar 400 is priced at Rs 2,29,781 (ex-showroom, Delhi) and is available in two colour schemes: Aurora Green and Charcoal Black.  

Features:

In its latest iteration, the Bajaj Dominar 400 got a range of touring goodies as standard in its latest iteration. The list includes a smoked visor, handguards, engine bash plate, engine guard, pillion backrest, rear luggage rack, navigation mount and a USB charging port. You can even buy a saddle stay for an added premium. Bajaj has given the Dominar 400 LED illumination throughout.

You get two digital information panels on the Dominar 400. The primary one houses the speedometer, tachometer, real-time and average fuel consumption indicator, fuel gauge, and a side-stand warning. The secondary panel, mounted on the fuel tank has trip meters, odometer, a gear position indicator, and a clock. There is no smartphone connectivity, but the brand does offer a navigation mount, as mentioned earlier.

Engine:

The Bajaj Dominar 400 is powered by a KTM-sourced 373cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. The motorcycle makes 40PS and 35Nm. It works in conjunction with a six-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch.

Suspension & Brakes:

Built on a perimeter frame, the Dominar 400 employs a 43mm open cartridge inverted fork, similar to the one on the KTM 390 Duke. The gas-charged rear monoshock, on the other hand, is preload adjustable. Its radial front brake caliper acts on a large 320mm disc, while there’s a 230mm rotor with a single-piston caliper at the rear. Dual-channel ABS remains as standard. The 17-inch alloy rims come shod with MRF radial tyres. The motorcycle comes with a 13-liter fuel tank, and tips the scale at 193 kg kerb. The ground clearance stands at 157mm.

The Bajaj Dominar 400 rivals the Triumph Speed 400, Royal Enfield Meteor 350, Honda CB350RS,the Suzuki Gixxer SF 250, KTM RC 390 and the upcoming TVS Apache RTR 310. For around the same price bracket, you can go for the Royal Enfield Himalayan, KTM 250 Duke, Husqvarna Svartpilen 250, and Husqvarna Vitpilen 250.
