Bajaj Pulsar N160 Latest Update

The Bajaj Pulsar N160 is the Pune-based bikemaker’s third motorcycle to be based on an all-new platform, after the Bajaj Pulsar N250 and F250. We had ridden this sporty Pulsar and here’s what we liked and disliked about the bike. We’ve also compared its performance with its arch nemesis, the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, and here’s what we found out. If you’re planning to buy one, here’s the full price list.

Price

The Bajaj Pulsar N160 is priced at Rs 1,30,560 for the single-channel ABS variant and Rs 1,29,645 for the dual-channel version (both ex-showroom Delhi). While the single-channel ABS model comes in Caribbean Blue, Racing Red and Techno Grey, the dual-channel variant is offered in Brooklyn Black, and Caribbean Blue colour schemes.

Features

The Bajaj Pulsar N160’s instrument cluster is the same semi-digital infinity display as seen on the N250. The analogue pod houses the tachometer, while the LCD screen houses the speedometer, trip meter, fuel level readout, gear position indicator, and time. Apart from an all-LED illumination with projector headlight, you also get a USB charging port.

Engine

The Pulsar N160 is powered by a new 164.8cc, single-cylinder, air-oil-cooled engine dishing out 16PS and 14.65Nm, which is 1.2PS less but 0.05Nm more than the NS160. Furthermore, this is 1.55PS and 0.08Nm less than the segment leader, the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V.

Suspension & Brakes

The Pulsar N160 uses the Pulsar N250’s frame, and also gets the telescopic fork and monoshock setup as its bigger sibling. That said, the telescopic fork for the dual-channel ABS variant is a 37mm unit, as opposed to the 31mm one on the single-channel variant.

Braking is via discs at both ends. The dual-channel ABS model gets a 300mm front disc while the single-channel version comes with a 280mm rotor. Both variants get a 230mm rear disc brake. The N160 also rolls on fatter tyres compared to the NS160 with a 100-section at the front and 130-section at the rear.

Rivals

The Bajaj Pulsar N160 rivals the Hero Xtreme 160R, Yamaha FZ-S Fi V4, Honda XBlade, Suzuki Gixxer and the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V. For around the same price, other alternatives include the Aprilia SR 160, Vespa VXL 125 and the Ola S1 Pro.
