The recently launched Mercedes EQS 580 4Matic electric sedan has garnered 300 bookings within a period of one month. With assembly taking place at the marque’s plant in Pune, the electric sedan is priced aggressively with a tag of Rs 1.55 crore (ex-showroom). It’s the first locally assembled luxury electric vehicle in India and is sold alongside the AMG-spec sedan, which is a CBU import.

Features of Mercedes-Benz EQS

The Mercedes-Benz EQS features a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, a similarly sized screen for the passenger and a 17.7-inch infotainment touchscreen; the screens being integrated as a three-screen, single-piece unit called the MBUX Hyperscreen. Other features include a Burmester 3D sound system, head-up display, rear axle steering and ambient lighting. On the safety front, it gets nine airbags, electronic stability control, and a bunch of ADAS (advanced driver-assistance systems) and other active safety features including auto emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and autonomous parking.

The electric sedan’s AMG 53 4Matic+ and EQS 580 4Matic variants are equipped with a dual electric motor setup paired with a 107.8kWh battery pack, which has a maximum charging capacity of 200kW. The 580 4Matic trim’s motor is rated at 523PS and 855Nm, offering a claimed range of 677km and an ARAI claimed range of 857km. The AMG-spec variant comes with the Dynamic Plus pack as standard for India, which produces 761PS and 1020Nm. It has a claimed range of 586km with a 0-100 sprint time of 3.4 seconds. The fast-charging compatible battery can be juiced up from 10 to 80 percent in 30 minutes using a 200kW charger. A 22kW wallbox AC charger is offered as standard.
