Yezdi officials have confirmed that the legendary Yezdi Roadking will be resurrected, and will be the flagship bike to be launched. Also, It will not be based on the company’s existing platform.
The bike is likely to be a quintessential retro roadster in terms of design, and could feature modern elements such as LED lighting, semi-digital instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity and navigation, USB charging port, and a dual-channel ABS with multiple modes.
The upcoming Yezdi Roadking could either be powered by a downsized version of the BSA Gold Star’s 652cc engine or there will be a new engine altogether. In the Gold Star, it produces 45.6PS and 55Nm, and is linked to a 5-speed transmission with slipper clutch.
The Yezdi Roadking is likely to be launched in late 2022 or early 2023, and could be priced at around Rs 2.6 lakh (ex-showroom), if Yezdi goes the 650cc route. In this case, it will go up against the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, which is currently the most affordable 650cc bike in India.
