The Triumph Speed 400 is Triumph’s latest offering and its smallest-capacity bike. It is also poised to become the cheapest Triumph bike in India as well as in the global market. This model aims to attract riders on a budget to join the ranks of Triumph enthusiasts, all the while delivering performance suitable for highway riding and maintaining the brand’s renowned high-quality fit and finish standards.

Price:

The Triumph Speed 400 is priced at Rs 2,33,000(ex-showroom Delhi). Also, Triumph will offer the bike at Rs 2,23,000 (introductory) for the first 10,000 customers. It will be available in only one variant, and in three colours: Carnival Red/Phantom Black, Caspian Blue/Storm Grey, and Phantom Black/ Storm Grey.

Features:

The Triumph Speed 400 features modern LED lighting, sleek bar-end mirrors, convenient switchable traction control, and Bosch dual-channel ABS. While its semi-digital instrument cluster does not include smartphone connectivity or navigation, it offers a wealth of information such as a gear position indicator, distance-to-empty readout, and useful tell-tale lights. Additionally, it provides a USB-C port for charging electronic devices mounted on the handlebar. Triumph also offers a range of accessories for the Speed 400, including heated grips, LED indicators, and luggage options, all backed by a generous two-year, unlimited mileage warranty.

Engine:

As the name suggests, the Speed 400 uses an all-new 398.15cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. It produces 40PS at 8000rpm and 37.5Nm at 6500rpm, working in conjunction with a 6-speed transmission with a slip-and-assist clutch. Triumph offers a generous 16,000km service interval on the Speed 400. The claimed mileage stands at 28.3kmpl.

Suspension And Brakes:

The hybrid spine/perimeter tubular steel frame of the motorcycle houses the engine. The rear subframe is bolted onto this frame, and the front suspension features a 43mm inverted Big Piston Fork, offering a generous 140mm of wheel travel. At the rear, there’s a gas-charged mono-shock with a remote reservoir that can be adjusted for preload, allowing for 130mm of wheel travel. The motorcycle rides on 17-inch aluminium alloy wheels, fitted with Metzeler Sportec M9RR tires in the international version, while the India-spec model is equipped with Apollo Alpha H1 rubber.

Braking power is provided by a 300mm disc at the front with a radial caliper, and a 230mm disc at the rear, both manufactured by ByBre. The bike features a 13-litre fuel tank, and an accessible seat height of 795mm. The motorcycle maintains a lightweight profile, tipping the scales at just 176kg kerb, 6kg heavier than the international-spec version.
