2023 Kawasaki Z400: Details Explained

Kawasaki has updated The Z400 to comply with the newest emission norms and the updated motorcycle has been launched in several international markets. Here we explain the top details of the 2022 Kawasaki Ninja 400.

Updated Engine

The biggest change to the 2022 model is the compliance with the newest emission norms. This motor now complies with the Euro5 emission norms (equivalent to BS6 standards). The 399cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled motor on the 2022 Z400 is tuned to deliver 44bhp and 37Nm of peak torque. While the power output remains similar to its predecessor, the torque has come down by 1Nm. The engine is linked to a six-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch mechanism.

Design

The design remains identical to its predecessor and the 2022 Kawasaki Ninja 400 continues to feature the Z H2-inspired styling. This includes a single-pod headlight, muscular fuel tank with shrouds, step-up seat, and a side-slung exhaust. Being a roadster-segment motorcycle, the Z400 uses a single-piece handlebar instead of clip-on-style units on the Ninja 400.

Colours

The 2022 Z400 is available in two colours – Candy Lime Green with Metallic Spark Black and Pearl Robotic White with Metallic Matte Graphene Steel Gray.

Same Hardware

The hardware on the 2022 version remains unaltered and the latest iteration of the Z400 retains steel trellis frame. The suspension tasks are handled by 41mm telescopic front forks and preload-adjustable rear mono-shock. The anchoring duties are handled by a single 310mm at the front and a single 220mm discs at the rear.

Will it come to India?

While the 2022 Z400 complies with the Euro5 emission norms, which are equivalent to the BS6 standards, it is unlikely to arrive in the Indian market. While the roadster may not make it to India, Kawasaki may introduce the Ninja 400 in our market and you can read more about it here.
