Suzuki Katana teased ahead of launch in India – Here’s all you need to know

The Suzuki Katana seems to be on its way to India, as the company has teased its launch on social media. Suzuki’s current big bike portfolio consists of offerings that include the 650cc V-Strom 650XT adventure bike and the 1,340cc Hayabusa. The upcoming Katana will primarily bridge the gap between the two.

The modern Katana is powered by a 999cc inline-four engine, which was seen on the K5 GSX-R1000. For those unaware, the same engine also powers the GSX-S1000. For the new model year, the company has tweaked the engine with new camshafts and valve springs along with updates to the airbox and exhaust system.

Other changes include a new ride-by-wire system and a smaller 40mm electronic throttle body. Electronic features of the bike will include traction control, a bi-directional quick-shifter, and three throttle maps, which retain the maximum power but tweak the delivery.

In terms of cycle parts, the motorcycle gets a fully-adjustable USD fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear, which can be adjusted for preload and rebound damping. The bike’s braking duties are handled by radial Brembo callipers on 310mm discs. The Katana also gets an LCD display, which is not only more basic than the TFT units of most new bikes but also lacks Bluetooth connectivity.
