Mahindra EXUV400

Despite having announced its entry in the EV space comparatively later than some other automakers, Mahindra is gearing up to take on the electric car market with a storm, especially the electric SUV segment. The Indian manufacturer is looking to kickstart this with the launch of the eXUV400, and it has revealed that the SUV – which is expected to be a compact SUV – will be unveiled in September 2022.

Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director – Auto & Farm Sectors, Mahindra & Mahindra said, “Mahindra has very exciting plans to be a leader in the electric SUV space. We would share our vision that includes our comprehensive product, technology, and platform strategy at the UK event on 15 August 2022, followed by a reveal of the electric XUV 400 in September 2022. We would expect between 20% to 30% of Mahindra SUVs being electric by 2027”.

Mahindra also showcased concepts of the eXUV300 subcompact SUV and the eKUV100 hatchback in auto expo 2020, and were expected to launch the EVs in 2021, but pandemic related delays postponed their launch dates. These cars are expected to go on sale soon after too, and we will perhaps get more information on that front on August 15, 2022, in Mahindra’s UK event.

Mahindra has big plans for the electric vehicle segment in India in the coming years with the company targeting to have 20% to 30% of its sales to come from EVs by 2027. The firm earlier this year teased a trio of ‘Born Electric’ electric vehicle concepts expected to preview the company’s new-gen electric vehicles as well as confirming plans to launch the all-electric derivative of the XUV300, the XUV400 in India during this financial year. The company is set to reveal more details on its new ‘Born Electric’ models on August 15, 2022.

Other Upcoming Mahindra Models are the Scorpio Classic and eKUV100
