BMW Motorrad has been extensively testing the next-generation version of its globally popular adventure tourer, the R1250 GS. The upcoming version is likely to be called the R1300 GS, courtesy of the expected bump in its displacement. While a lot has already been speculated about the bike through its spy shots, a new set of spy pictures has revealed more details about it.

Apart from the increase in displacement, a close inspection of the new images indicates that the existing air-cooled setup will be replaced by liquid-cooling. Also, the larger engine will put out more power and torque than the current model, but the exact increment in the numbers isn’t known yet. The current-gen iteration of the motorcycle belts out 134.1bhp and 143Nm.

Another major revision has seemingly been executed in the chassis department which now appears to be made up of cast aluminium, similar to its swingarm, sub-frame, and a few other components. This will certainly make it a more nimble and lighter-feeling motorcycle. What’s more, the feature list of the R1300 GS could be more extensive than the 1250 with things like blind-spot detection, cornering lights, and radar-based cruise control expected to be a part of the package. As for the updated design, the exact nature of its changes is difficult to decipher due to the camouflage on the test mule. But there are high chances that the asymmetrical front end will make way for a sportier and more aggressive fascia.

The global unveiling of the new BMW R1300 GS is expected to take place sometime next year followed by its entry in India later. The motorcycle will continue to compete against the likes of the Triumph Tiger 1200, Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250, and the Ducati Multistrada V4.
