Japanese automaker, Toyota is getting aggressive with its product strategy for the Indian market. The company is working on multiple new models in collaboration with Maruti Suzuki. In the next 1 year, Toyota is planning to launch 5 new cars in the Indian market.
- NEW TOYOTA URBAN CRUISER
New Toyota Urban Cruiser Launch Date
Toyota will launch the new Urban Cruiser SUV soon after the introduction of the new Brezza in June 2022. The new model will come with significantly revised design and a completely new interior. Moreover, the new sub-4 meter SUV will receive several segment-leading features like an electric sunroof, a larger touchscreen infotainment system with wireless connectivity, e-SIM based connectivity suite, cruise control and many more. It will be powered by a new 1.5L K15C Dual-Jet petrol engine that powers the new XL6. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.

Toyota Hyryder SUV
Toyota has registered the Hyryder name, which is reportedly to be the name of the upcoming mid-sized SUV. Codenamed D22, the new SUV is jointly developed by Toyota and Maruti Suzuki. To be produced at Toyota’s Bidadi based plant, the new Toyota Hyryder will challenge the Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos. The SUV will share the styling cues and the interior design with the global Corolla Cross. It will be based on the heavily localised TNGA-B or DNGA platform. New Toyota 7 Seater MPV
Japanese automaker is testing a new C-segment MPV in India as well as in Thailand. The new model is rumoured to be the next-gen Innova. It will be based on Toyota’s DNGA or TNGA-B platform instead of the ladder-on-frame chassis. The new model will share the styling cues from the Toyota Rush SUV, which is already on sale in the select international markets. 2023 Toyota Innova Hybrid
If reports are to be believed, Toyota will also give a mid-life update to its existing Innova Crysta. The updated Crysta will be sold alongside the next-gen model. It will target the fleet operators and will continue to be based on the ladder-on-frame chassis. The MPV will retain the 2.4-litre turbo-diesel engine that produces 150bhp and 343Nm. 2022 Toyota Land Cruiser Launch
Toyota will launch the new Land Cruiser LC300 in the Indian market by August 2022. Bookings for the new model were commenced in February 2022. It is based on the GA-F platform that’s an upgraded ladder-on-frame chassis. It is likely to be powered by a 3.3-litre twin-turbo diesel engine paired to a 10-speed automatic gearbox. This engine churns out 305bhp and 700Nm of torque.

With aim to tap the growing mid-size SUV segment, Toyota Kirloskar Motor will bring in a new model in the coming months. Internally known as D22, the new Toyota SUV will make its debut in June and its launch will happen before this year’s festive season. Interestingly, it will be the first production model that will be designed and developed under Toyota and Suzuki partnership. While the carmaker remains tight lipped about the upcoming SUV, a fresh media report claims that it will be named Toyota Hyryder.
Designed for the specific markets, the Toyota Hyryder is reported to be offered with the 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine borrowed from the global-spec Yaris Cross Hybrid. The motor will be paired to a battery pack and a 59kWh electric motor. Its combined power output will stand around 114bhp. While the petrol unit will deliver torque around 120Nm, the electric motor will return 141Nm. It can run on both hybrid and pure EV modes.
Toyota Maruti SUV
On Toyota Yaris Cross, the hybrid powertrain delivers a claimed fuel efficiency of over 26kmpl. The new Toyota SUV will also be made available with the 1.5L petrol engine. Both manual and automatic gearboxes are likely to be on offer. The Toyota Hyryder SUV will underpin the heavily localized version of the brand’s TNGA platform that will help achieve competitive pricing. The carmaker might equip its new mid-size SUV with lots of advanced goodies including connected car tech, a 360 degree camera, Head-Up Display (HUD), wireless smartphone charging, a sunroof, wireless charging, a digital instrument cluster and more. Rumour has it that the new Toyota SUV could be offered with ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) suite.
Design-wise, the new Toyota Hyryder SUV will look different from Maruti Suzuki’s upcoming mid-size SUV. Though, both models will share platform and design elements. In fact, the powertrain setup will remain the same.

The second-generation Maruti Vitara Brezza is all set to hit showrooms in coming weeks. While its official launch date is yet to be announced, the model is likely to arrive in the last weeks of June 2022. Interestingly, this time around the SUV will drop the prefix ‘Vitara’ and could be offered with the factory fitted CNG kit. Major changes will be made to its exterior and interior. In fact, the new 2022 Maruti Brezza is reported to come with the updated 1.5L K15C petrol engine and a new 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox.

The latest spy images reveal that the next-gen Brezza features a newly-designed grille with horizontal chrome slates. You can notice the arrow-shaped inserts merging with chrome inserts inside the headlamps. It gets slightly tweaked bumper with a faux bull bar and a silver faux skid plate, twin C-shaped LED DRLs, matte black cladding running across its sides and newly-designed, dual-tone 16-inch alloy wheels further enhance its sporty appearance. If reports are to be believed, the new Brezza could be offered with a 360 degree camera, a factory-fitted sunroof, wireless phone charging, Head-Up Display (HUD), connected car tech, a new instrument cluster and a new flat bottom steering. The SUV’s new model is expected to be high on safety as the carmaker is reported to make a few changes to its bodyshell. Its safety kit might include hill decent assist, hill hold assist, 6 airbags and tyre pressure monitoring system.

Similar to the Ertiga and XL6 facelift, the new Maruti Brezza 2022 is likely to be offered with a new 1.5-litre K15C DualJet engine. Compared to the existing K15B gasoline motor, the new one will be 2bhp less powerful and 2Nm less torqueier. Though, the new engine has two injectors per cylinder that makes it more fuel economically. It can be had with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. A CNG-powered Brezza is also on cards, though it might come at a later stage.

Hyundai India is getting ready to roll out the Venue facelift in the month of June. Though, its official launch date is yet to be announced by the carmaker. Interestingly, the new 2022 Hyundai Venue model lineup will receive the new Venue N-Line variant featuring sportier design elements inside and out. The subcompact SUV will come with a few cosmetic changes and feature upgrades, while the engine-gearbox combinations will remain intact.
– Most of the design updates will be made to its front and rear ends, inspired by Hyundai’s global SUVs. The Hyundai Venue 2022 will carry the brand’s new ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ design language. Upfront, the model will feature a larger and new parametric grille and revised bumper. The split headlamps, LED DRLs and fog lamp assembly will be carried forward from the current model.
– The new Venue will also receive newly-designed alloy wheels, updated taillamps and tweaked rear bumper.

– The Hyundai Venue N-Line will have red accents on the lower section of the front bumper, differently designed alloy wheels, N-Line badging on the front fender and a dual-tip exhaust. India’s two highly-popular sub-4 metre SUVs, Maruti Vitara Brezza and Hyundai Venue, are ready to receive updates next month (i.e. June 2022). While the former will enter into its second-generation, the latter will witness a mid-life update.
Here’re key details of the new 2022 Maruti Brezza and Hyundai Venue facelift that we know so far.
2022 MARUTI BREZZA

The model was recently caught on camera during its commercial TVC shoot in Gurugram. The images reveal confirm that the SUV will go through comprehensive design changes. Its front looks completely differed with newly-designed headlamps merging into the grille, twin C-shaped LED DRLs, revised front fenders, updated bonnet, a silver faux skid plate and matte black bumper with a faux bull bar. It also gets new rear bumper, slimmer wraparound taillamps and pronounced silver faux skid plate.
With the generation change, the Brezza will get several new goodies including a larger infotainment system with the new Smartplay Pro+, a sunroof, a 360 degree camera, paddle shifters for automatic variants, connected car tech and more. Prices of the updated Hyundai Venue are likely to be revealed by mid June 2022. This time around, the carmaker will also introduce the Hyundai Venue N-Line variant featuring sportier design elements. Most of the changes will be cosmetic including the new-generation Tucson-inspired grille, tweaked bumpers and new L-shaped taillamps.
Inside, there could be a full digital instrument cluster, new steering wheel with mounted controls and updated infotainment unit. No changes will be made to its engines.
